Section 5905.2 - Definitions

As used in these rules and regulations:

(a) Act means the Federal Small Business Innovation Development Act of 1982 ( P.L. 97-219).
(b) Foundation means the New York State Science and Technology Foundation, with headquarters at 99 Washington Ave., Albany, NY 12210.
(c) Board means the board of directors of the foundation.
(d) Executive director means the executive director of the foundation.
(e) Staff means the staff of the foundation.
(f) Federal agency means any Federal agency which is required to make Small Business Innovation Research Awards pursuant to the Act.
(g) Federal SBIR Phase I means the first phase of research conducted under a contract or grant award made by a Federal agency, pursuant to the Act.
(h) Federal SBIR Phase II means the second phase of research conducted under a contract or grant award made by a Federal agency, pursuant to the Act.
(i) Firm means any small business which has received a Federal SBIR Phase I research award.
(j) State research contract means the contract executed by the foundation with any firm judged to have met the application requirements specified in section 5905.5 of this Part.
(k) State-supported research means that research to be conducted by the applicant using funds received pursuant to a State research contract.
(l) Qualified firm means a firm whose application for a State research contract has been approved.
