Guidance:

07A Where a shoulder condition exists for a distance of 1000 feet or longer, the W8-4, W8-9, W8-17 and W8-23 signs should be supplemented with a Distance plaque (see Section 2C.55 ). Where additional signs are placed within 1000 feet of the end of the shoulder condition, the Distance plaque should be omitted.
