Section 43.10 - Lighting requirements on special purpose commercial vehicles
(a) Except as provided in subdivision (b) of this section, and except for highway hazard warning lights, a special purpose commercial vehicle 80 inches or more in width shall be equipped in conformity with sections 43.2 and 43.3 of this Part, and a special purpose commercial vehicle less than 80 inches or more in width shall be equipped in conformity with sections 43.4 and 43.5 of this Part.
(b) A road roller, tractor crane, truck crane, power shovel, road building machine, snow plow originally designed for snow removal or grading, road sweeper, earth mover or truck with small wheels used in a factory, warehouse or railroad station shall be equipped in conformity with Table VI. This subdivision shall apply only when the special purpose commercial vehicle listed in the above sentence is operated on a public highway from one-half hour after sunset to one-half hour before sunrise. At other times, no lighting equipment is required on the special purpose commercial vehicles listed in this subdivision. However, any vehicle listed in this subdivision may voluntarily be brought into conformity with truck lighting requirements.

(c) A special purpose commercial vehicle which is also a hazard vehicle as defined in Vehicle and Traffic Law, section 117-a, may have one or more revolving, rotating, flashing, oscillating or constantly moving amber lights.
(d) Nothing is this Part shall be construed as affecting the requirement of Vehicle and Traffic Law, section 375(36), and Part 68 of this Title that certain vehicles display the slow moving vehicle emblem.
