Section 349-1.4 - Duties of superseding therapist

A therapist, when requested to supersede another therapist in a workers' compensation case, must, before beginning treatment of such patient, make reasonable effort to communicate with the attending therapist to ascertain the patient's condition. The superseding therapist must also advise the attending therapist of the name of the person who has requested him or her to assume care of the case and state the reason therefor. If the second therapist cannot contact the attending therapist, and the claimant's condition requires immediate treatment, the said therapist should advise the therapist previously in attendance within 48 hours that the patient is now in his or her care. The preceding therapist shall supply the succeeding therapist with a complete history of the case.
