Carpets may be used in patient and non-patient occupied areas with the following exceptions: toilet rooms, bathing facilities, isolation rooms, laundry rooms, utility rooms, examination or treatment rooms, housekeeping closets:
A. Specifications for acceptable carpeting include: (1) carpet material which meets the standards of the state fire marshal and is easily cleanable;(2) pile tufts shall be a minimum of 64 per square inch or equivalent density;(3) rows shall be a minimum of eight per square inch or equivalent density.B. Installation of carpet material: (1) Pad and carpet shall be installed according to manufacturer recommendations;(2) Edges of carpet shall be covered and cove or base shoe used at all wall junctures. Seams shall be sewn or bonded together with manufacturer recommended cement.N.M. Admin. Code § 8.370.19.42
