A. Good public relations should be cultivated at all times. Cordiality and helpfulness must be the goal of every museum of New Mexico employee in contacts with the public and with media representatives.
B. All complaints or requests for information should be referred to the appropriate associate director or bureau chief and answered as soon as possible. Complaints should not be discouraged, for they can be valuable in evaluating museum facilities and programs.
C. Contacts with the media, although often desirable, can have unforeseen results. In the interest of avoiding potential problems, especially regarding policies of the museum, all employees must notify and obtain clearance from the public information officer or the director, museum of New Mexico, before discussions with media representatives. All news releases will be routed through the public information officer.
