N.M. Code R. § 4.51.1.21

Current through Register Vol. 35, No. 11, June 11, 2024
Section 4.51.1.21 - POLICY ON PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATIONS AND MEETINGS
A. In order to foster professionalism and to provide opportunities for personal enrichment, museum of New Mexico employees are encouraged to join and actively participate in local, state and national organizations dedicated to the advance of research in their areas of academic training and the dissemination of knowledge regarding museum operations and the preservation, display and interpretation of cultural resources.
B. The museum also recognizes the value of employees attending professional meetings and seminars that are relevant to their job responsibilities. Attendance may be authorized by associate directors, bureau chiefs, the director or the director's designee as a budgeted expense when professional gatherings are of potential value to the museum of New Mexico. Normally an employee must have been employed for one year before permission for out-of-state travel for these purposes will be granted.
C. Employees may engage in external professional activities, such as committee assignments, that are unpaid - with the exception that meals and travel expenses may be reimbursed - and that enhance the stature of the museum of New Mexico. These activities may be undertaken on museum time so long as permission from the appropriate supervisor is obtained in advance, there is no interference with the employee's regularly assigned responsibilities, and no direct expenses are incurred by the museum of New Mexico.
