Section 20.3.5.16 - RADIATION SURVEY INSTRUMENTSA. Licensees and registrants shall keep sufficient calibrated and operable radiation survey instruments at each location to make the radiation surveys required by this Part and by 20.3.4.416 NMAC. Instrumentation required by this section must be capable of measuring a range from 0.02 millisieverts (2 millirems) per hour through 0.01 sievert (1 rem) per hour.B. Each radiation survey instrument shall be calibrated:(1) At energies appropriate for use and at intervals not to exceed 6 months and after each instrument servicing (except battery changes);(2) Such that accuracy within plus or minus 20 percent can be demonstrated; and(3) At 2 points located approximately 1/3 and 2/3 of full-scale on each scale for linear scale instruments; at mid-range of each decade, and at 2 points of at least 1 decade for logarithmic scale instruments; and at appropriate points for digital instruments.C. Records of these calibrations shall be maintained for 3 years after the calibration date for inspection by the Department.D. Each radiation survey instrument shall be checked with a radiation source at the beginning of each day of use and at the beginning of each work shift to ensure it is operating properly.N.M. Admin.
