Section 8:7-1.17 - Record of continuing education contact hours
(a) A licensee shall maintain documentation of course, seminar, or program continuing education completion.
(b) A licensee shall submit to the Public Health Council verification of accumulated continuing education contact hours. Verification material shall include evidence of the successful completion through attendance at or faculty-level instruction of an approved course, seminar, or program, in the form of a copy of the certificate or similar formal record certified by the sponsor.
1. The contact hour certificate(s) of attendance may be used for either the health officer or the registered environmental health specialist license application(s); for those individuals who apply for both licenses, the same contact hours acquired may be applied to the renewal of both licenses.
(c) A licensee shall complete the license renewal forms by including continuing education information for all the approved courses, seminars, or programs which the applicant completed, as well as the number of continuing education contact hours earned, for the licensure renewal period in question.
(d) Notwithstanding (a), (b), and (c) above, during the period of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency, an individual may restore his or her health officer or registered environmental health specialist license to active status without satisfying the requirements of (a), (b), and (c) above if the individual meets the requirements at N.J.A.C. 8:7-1.11(f).
(e) This temporary rule waiver/modification, as well as any active provisional license issued thereunder, shall expire 45 days after the end of the Public Health Emergency declared by Governor Philip D. Murphy in Executive Order No. 103 (2020).
(f) Notwithstanding (b) and (c) above, during the period of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency, individuals with an active health officer or registered environmental health specialist license in good standing for the 2020 licensing period may renew their respective license for the 2021 licensing period without completing the required 15 contact hours of continuing education or providing evidence of same if they satisfy all other requirements for licensure renewal set forth in this chapter.
(g) Notwithstanding the provisions at (b) and (c) above, until January 11, 2022, individuals with an active health officer or registered environmental health specialist license in good standing for the 2021 licensing period may renew their respective license for the 2022 licensing period without completing the required 15 contact hours of continuing education or providing evidence of same if they satisfy all other requirements for licensure renewal set forth in this chapter, including payment of the $ 50.00 renewal fee, pursuant to N.J.A.C. 8:7-1.11(b).
