Section 8:43G-22.16 - Pediatric intensive care staff time and availability(a) There shall be a physician who can handle pediatric emergencies, other than the physician assigned to the emergency department, in the hospital at all times.(b) There shall be at least one registered professional nurse to every two patients in the pediatric intensive care unit.(c) There shall be at least one full-time clerical support staff person assigned full or part time to the pediatric intensive care unit.(d) The services of the following staff with specialized training or experience in pediatrics shall be available to pediatric intensive care unit patients and their families: child-life specialist, social worker, physical therapist, occupational therapist, psychiatrist, and nutritionist.(e) The hospital shall have available a transport team staffed by health professionals with special training in pediatrics.N.J.
