Section 8:43G-17A.1 - Authority, scope, and purpose

(a) The Commissioner promulgates this subchapter pursuant to the authority of N.J.S.A. 26:2H-1 et seq., particularly N.J.S.A. 26:2H-5.h.

(b) The provisions of this subchapter apply to general hospitals licensed pursuant to 26:2H-1 et seq.

(c) The purpose of this subchapter is to provide patients, their families, and the public information as to the extent of direct care staffing levels provided by general hospitals; establish requirements for general hospitals to post, on a daily basis, information about direct patient care staffing levels in visible and accessible locations in specified areas of the hospitals; and establish procedures for general hospitals to report aggregated data to the Department on a monthly basis.
