Section 6A:32-8.6 - Absentee and chronic absenteeism rates(a) A student's absentee rate shall be determined by subtracting the student's total number of days present from the student's days in membership and dividing the result by the student's days in membership. 1. State-excused absences shall not be included in a student's days in membership for purposes of calculating a student's absentee rate. (b) If a student's absentee rate is equal to or greater than 10 percent, the student shall be identified as chronically absent. (c) Each school with 10 percent or more of its enrolled students identified as chronically absent shall develop a corrective action plan to improve absenteeism rates. In accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A:38-25.1, the school will annually review and revise the corrective action plan and present the revisions to the district board of education, until the percentage of students who are chronically absent is less than 10 percent.
