A renaissance school project shall be a public school that is operated through a contract with the renaissance school district, operated independently of a district board of education, and governed by a board of trustees in accordance with the contract, the provisions of the Urban Hope Act (N.J.S.A. 18A:36C-1et seq.), this chapter, and the laws and rules governing charter schools that are not inconsistent with the Urban Hope Act.
