Section 19:61-2.2 - Codes of ethics(a) The Commission shall adopt a uniform ethics code to govern and guide the conduct of State officials. The uniform code shall be the primary code of ethics for State agencies.1. Each State agency shall put into place a distribution procedure to ensure that each current State official and each new State official receives a copy of the uniform ethics code. Each State official shall sign a receipt indicating the date on which the uniform ethics code was received and an acknowledgment that the State official is responsible for reading the uniform ethics code and is bound by it. The receipt shall be maintained in the State official's personnel file.(b) Each State agency may promulgate a supplemental code of ethics to address the particular needs and problems of the agency. The agency supplemental code of ethics shall be a supplement to the uniform code and shall recognize the uniform code as the primary code. 1. Each State agency shall submit its supplemental code of ethics to the Commission for approval.2. A State agency supplemental code of ethics becomes effective upon approval of the Commission.3. Each State agency shall put into place a distribution procedure to ensure that each current State official and each new State official receives a copy of the approved agency supplemental code of ethics. Each State official shall sign a receipt indicating the date on which the agency supplemental code of ethics was received and an acknowledgment that the State official is responsible for reading the agency supplemental code of ethics and is bound by it.
