Section 16:53-7.12 - Tires and wheels

(a) A special autobus-type recreational vehicle shall be equipped with tires and wheels of sufficient size and construction as recommended by the manufacturer to meet the gross vehicle weight rating of the special autobus-type recreational vehicle.

(b) A special autobus-type recreational vehicle shall not be operated on any tire having exposed fabric on the tread or sidewall.

(c) The front tires of a special autobus-type recreational vehicle shall have a minimum tread groove of 4/32 of an inch. The rear tires of a special autobus-type recreational vehicle shall have a minimum tread groove of 2/32 of an inch. Measurements shall be made at any point on a major tread groove except where tie bars, humps, or fillets are located.

(d) A special autobus-type recreational vehicle shall not be operated with regrooved, recapped, or retread tires on the front wheels.

(e) A special autobus-type recreational vehicle shall be equipped with tires that are matched in size designation, construction, and profile on the same axle. Radial tires shall not be mixed with other types of tires on the same axle.
