Section 14:18-14.16 - Initiation of system-wide franchise renewal process(a) Renewal procedures shall commence three years prior to the expiration of the system-wide franchise.(b) The Office shall notify the cable television operator that it will commence a fact finding process (ascertainment) between 36 and 30 months prior to the expiration of the system-wide franchise and shall begin the review process by the end of the 30th month prior to the expiration of the system-wide franchise.(c) A cable television company holding a system-wide franchise may also initiate renewal proceedings by filing notice with the Office requiring it to commence renewal proceedings. Said notice must be provided no sooner than 36 months or later than 30 months prior to the expiration of the system-wide franchise. If the cable television company provides notice requiring the Office to begin the review process, the Office shall begin the renewal process within six months of the notice provided by the cable television company. In no event shall the cable television company holding a system-wide franchise file notice for review before the 36th month prior to the expiration of the franchise unless agreed upon by the Board and the cable television company.N.J.
