Section 13:24-5.1 - Identification card (permit) eligibility(a) An active member in good standing of a volunteer fire company or a volunteer first aid or rescue squad may mount and operate a blue emergency warning light or lights on a motor vehicle operated by him or her if he or she has been issued an identification card (permit) for such light or lights pursuant to this subchapter and is in compliance with the provisions of this subchapter. In accordance with N.J.S.A. 39:3-54.11(b), identification cards issued pursuant to this subchapter shall be considered permits to mount and operate blue emergency warning lights, and are, therefore, referenced as "identification cards (permits)."(b) An identification card (permit) issued pursuant to this subchapter shall be in the possession of the operator at all times when the blue emergency warning light or lights are operated on a vehicle and shall be exhibited upon the request of any law enforcement official or authorized representative of the Commission.N.J.
