Section 13:24-2.5 - Permit application procedure
(a) Except as otherwise provided in (b), (c) and (d) below, requests for permits authorizing the use of red emergency lights and sirens pursuant to this subchapter shall be made to the Commission by the mayor or chief executive officer in the municipality in which the applicant's service is being provided.
(b) An organization engaged in the manufacture and/or sale of emergency vehicles or equipment that is eligible for a permit pursuant to 13:24-2.4(a)4 shall make application directly to the Commission.
(c) Emergency Management personnel who are eligible for a permit pursuant to 13:24-2.4(a)5 and search and rescue team personnel who are eligible for a permit pursuant to 13:24-2.4(a)6 shall apply for such permits in accordance with the procedures set forth in N.J.A.C. 13:24-3.
(d) Requests for permits for a county medical examiner or his or her deputy, assistant, or investigator who is eligible for a permit pursuant to 13:24-2.4(a)7 shall be made to the Commission by the director of the board of chosen freeholders or other appropriate authority for that county.
(e) Applications for permits authorizing the use of red emergency lights and sirens pursuant to this subchapter may be obtained from, and completed applications shall be submitted to, the Commission.
(f) A permit issued by the Commission pursuant to this subchapter shall be forwarded to the applicant via the official who made the request.
