Section 13:20-43.7 - Test frequency

(a) Motor vehicles subject to inspection pursuant to this subchapter shall be inspected on a biennial basis, except as otherwise provided by law or regulation.

(b) Notwithstanding (a) above, the following motor vehicles subject to inspection pursuant to this subchapter shall be inspected on an annual basis:

1. Gasoline-fueled and bi-fueled motor vehicles that are registered as commercial motor vehicles pursuant to 39:3-20, and diesel fueled vehicles with a GVWR less than 10,000 registered commercially;

2. Passenger vehicle transportation;

3. Driving school vehicles; and

4. Heavy duty diesel powered vehicles with gross vehicle weight rating 18,000 pounds or more.
