Section Saf-C 404.01 - Operating in Fog
(a) Any vessel that is running in a fog, mist, falling snow or heavy rain storm, or when a vessel cannot see other vessels, the pilot shall cause a long blast, 4 to 6 seconds in duration, of the whistle or horn, at intervals not exceeding 2 minutes.
(b) A vessel hearing the fog signal of another vessel, apparently forward of the beam, the position of which is not ascertained, shall immediately slow to headway speed only, and then navigate with caution until danger of collision is over.
