Section Saf-C 1313.13 - Interior Overhead Storage Compartments(a) Interior overhead storage compartments may be provided on a school bus which shall: (1) Meet or exceed the head protection requirements of FMVSS 222 as was in effect on the date of manufacture for the school bus, if applicable;(2) Have a maximum rated capacity displayed for each compartment;(3) Be completely enclosed and equipped with latching doors sufficient to withstand a force of 5 times the maximum rated capacity of the compartment;(4) Have all corners and edges rounded with a minimum radius of one inch or padding equivalent to door header padding;(5) Be sufficiently attached to the school bus to withstand a force equal to 20 times the maximum rated capacity of the compartment; and (6) Shall have no protrusions more than 1/4 of an inch.N.H.
