Section Saf-C 1306.05 - Behavior of School Bus Driver
(a) For the purposes of this section, "on-duty" means the time a bus driver is on the school bus, whether the bus is parked or in motion.
(b) While on-duty, each school bus driver shall:
(1) Properly wear the seat-belt assembly when operating the school bus;
(2) Be appropriately dressed in accordance with these rules and school district or school bus company policy. For the purposes of this paragraph, "appropriately dressed" means a neat and clean appearance; and
(3) Wear a closed-toe and closed-heeled shoe or boot.
(c) Each school bus driver shall not:
(1) Use tobacco products while on-duty. For the purposes of this paragraph, "tobacco products" includes cigarettes, cigars, pipes and chewing tobacco;
(2) Consume or transport any intoxicating liquor or beverage pursuant to 49 CFR 392.5, or drugs;
(3) Use vulgar or obscene language or gestures in the presence of pupils;
(4) Consume any food or beverage while the bus is in motion or while pupils are on the bus;
(5) Use a cellular phone while the bus is in motion;
(6) Use any television viewer, screen or other means of visually receiving a television broadcast or recorded video signal while the bus is in motion; and
(7) Use any navigation system device while the bus is in motion that does not meet the requirements of Saf-C 1313.16.
