Section Saf-C 1204.02 - Qualifications for Individual Endorsements
(a) An applicant for an unlimited fire sprinkler system endorsement shall demonstrate completion of 8000 hours of verifiable unlimited fire sprinkler system field experience and one of the following:
(1) Successful completion of a U.S. Department of Labor approved training course in the discipline of automatic fire sprinklers; or
(2) Successful completion of a course or program approved by the department.
(b) An applicant for a limited fire sprinkler system endorsement shall demonstrate the completion of 4,000 hours of verifiable limited fire sprinkler system field experience or be a NH licensed master plumber and demonstrate one of the following:
(1) Successful completion of the American Fire Sprinkler Association 13D Residential Sprinkler Installation Training Course;
(2) Successful completion of the National Fire Sprinkler Association Accredited Dwelling Fire Sprinkler Contractor Training; or
(3) Successful completion of a course or program approved by the department.
(c) An applicant for a pre-engineered kitchen fixed fire extinguishing system endorsement shall demonstrate the completion of 2,000 hours of verifiable fixed fire extinguishing system field experience and one of the following:
(1) Successful completion of the International Code Council/National Association of Fire Equipment Distributor (ICC/NAFED) Pre-engineered Kitchen Fire Extinguishing Technician Certification Exam;
(2) Current NICET Special Hazards Suppression Systems Certificate, Level II or greater;
(3) Successful training from a manufacturer of pre-engineered kitchen fixed fire extinguishing systems or an agent listed by Underwriter's Laboratory (UL), Factory Mutual (FM) or any other nationally recognized testing agency; or
(4) Successful completion of a course or program approved by the department.
(d) An applicant for a pre-engineered industrial fixed fire extinguishing system endorsement shall demonstrate the completion of 2,000 hours of verifiable fixed fire extinguishing system field experience and one of the following:
(1) Successful completion of the ICC/NAFED Pre-engineered Industrial Technician Certification Exam;
(2) Current NICET Special Hazards Suppression Systems Certificate, Level II or greater;
(3) Successful training from a manufacturer of pre-engineered industrial fixed fire extinguishing systems or an agent listed by UL, FM or any other nationally recognized testing agency; or
(4) Successful completion of a course or program approved by the department.
(e) An applicant for an engineered fixed fire extinguishing system fire protection equipment technician endorsement shall demonstrate the completion of 4,000 hours of verifiable fixed fire extinguishing system field experience and one of the following:
(1) Successful completion of the NICET Special Hazards Suppression Systems, Level II or greater;
(2) Current certificate of training from a manufacturer of engineered fixed fire extinguishing systems or an agent that is listed by UL, FM or any other nationally recognized testing agency;
(3) Successful completion of the ICC/NAFED Engineered Technician Certification Exam; or
(4) Successful completion of a course or program approved by the department.
(f) An applicant for a portable extinguisher technician endorsement shall demonstrate the completion of 1000 hours of verifiable portable extinguisher technician field experience and one of the following:
(1) Successful completion of the ICC/NAFED Portable Extinguisher Technician Certification Program;
(2) Current certificate of training from a manufacturer of portable fire extinguishers or an agent that is listed by UL, FM or any other nationally recognized testing agency;
(3) Successful completion of the Brooks Equipment Company Portable Fire Extinguisher Technician Course and Examination; or
(4) Successful completion of a course or program approved by the department.
(g) An applicant for a limited fire alarm technician certificate shall:
(1) Be licensed as an electrician in the state of New Hampshire pursuant to RSA 319-C; or
(2) Demonstrate the completion of 2,000 hours of verifiable experience in the electrical or fire alarm system industry and one of the following:
a. Successful completion of an electrician apprenticeship first year certificate program by a provider approved by the NH board of electricians; or
b. Successful completion of the state of New Hampshire Limited Fire Alarm Technician Training Course as outlined in Appendix A.
(h) An applicant for an unlimited fire alarm technician certificate shall:
(1) Meet the requirements for a limited fire alarm system technician set forth in Saf-C 1204.02(g); and
(2) Demonstrate the completion of 4,000 hours of verifiable experience in the electrical or fire alarm system industry and successfully complete one of the following:
a. All modules of the Automatic Fire Alarm Association (AFAA) Level 1 fire alarm training course;
b. All modules of the International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Level 1, Schedule B fire alarm training course;
c. The Electronic Security Association (ESA) National Training School (NTS) Fire Alarm Installation Methods (FAIM) course;
d. The NICET Level II fire alarm or greater; or
e. A course or program approved by the department.
