Section Saf-C 1306.04 - Unattended School Bus
(a) A school bus driver shall not leave a school bus unattended when pupils are on the bus, except in the event of an emergency, such as an accident or mechanical failure.
(b) In the event a school bus driver has to leave a school bus in the event of an emergency, the driver shall:
(1) Park the bus in proper gear with the parking brake applied;
(2) Activate the 4-way flashers;
(3) Shut off the bus;
(4) Remove the keys from the bus;
(5) Chock the wheels and put reflectors in place pursuant to RSA 265:113; and
(6) Remain within 100 feet of the bus and have an unobstructed field of view of the bus at all times when pupils are on the bus, except if chocking the wheels pursuant to (b)(5) above.
(c) Depending upon the emergency situation, the school bus driver shall instruct the pupils on all proper procedures to be followed.
