Section Plc 313.36 - Substantially Similar Requirements for the Professions Regulated by the Board of Medicine For purposes of obtaining a license by endorsement for a profession regulated by the board of medicine, the current requirements of the licensing jurisdiction shall be as follows:
(a) For a physician assistant (PA): (1) Graduate from a PA program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant; and(2) Pass a national examination for PAs; and(b) For a physician:(1) Either: a. Graduated from a medical school maintaining at the time of such studies a standard satisfactory to the Accreditation Council for Medical Education; orb. Studied medicine in a medical school located outside the United States that is recognized by the United Nations World Health Organization (UNWHO) and obtained Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certification;(2) Pass each component of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) or the Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination (COMLEX-USA) or be board-certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA); and(3) Successfully complete postgraduate medical training approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or the American Osteopathic Association.N.H.
