Section Ph 1606.01 - Responsibilities and Duties(a) The pharmacist-in-charge shall identify pharmacy interns and assure that such persons are registered with the board as pharmacy interns prior to employment or experiential pharmacy rotation.(b) All pharmacy interns shall wear a name tag, identifying them as a "Pharmacy Intern" while on duty.(c) The pharmacist-in-charge shall determine the duties of each pharmacy intern based upon the needs of the pharmacy and experiential site.(d) A pharmacy intern shall be allowed to engage in all activities in the practice of pharmacy provided that such activities are under the supervision of a pharmacist with the one exception of product verification.(e) A pharmacist shall be in contact with, and actually giving instructions to, the pharmacy intern during all professional activities.(f) Only pharmacy interns in their last professional year or graduates of an approved professional degree program of a school or college of pharmacy or graduates of an approved professional degree program of a school or college of pharmacy or graduates who have established educational equivalency by obtaining a Foreign Graduate Examination Committee (FPGEC) certificate may perform product verification.
