Section He-P 309.06 - Surgical Site Infections (SSI)(a) Hospitals and ambulatory surgical centers shall comply with the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Healthcare Safety Network, "Surgical Site Infection (SSI) Event" (January 2019 edition), available as noted in Appendix A at http://www.cdc.gov/nhsn/PDFs/pscManual/9pscSSIcurrent.pdf, when submitting SSI data.(b) Hospitals shall report on the following NHSN operative procedures: (1) Abdominal hysterectomy;(2) Coronary artery bypass graft surgery for chest incision and donor site;(3) Colon surgery for incision, resection, or anastomosis of the large intestine; and(c) Ambulatory surgical centers shall report on the following NHSN operative procedures: (2) Hernia repair surgery; and(3) Open reduction of fracture surgery.(d) Hospitals and ambulatory surgical centers shall monitor for the specified SSI events above all 12 calendar months, and shall report data on SSI events quarterly via NHSN.(e) Hospitals and ambulatory surgical centers shall provide data within 60 days of the close of each quarter to NHSN, as follows:(1) Quarter 1 data, from January 1st to March 31st, shall be reported on or before May 30th;(2) Quarter 2 data, from April 1st to June 30th, shall be reported on or before August 29th;(3) Quarter 3 data, from July 1st to September 30th, shall be reported on or before November 29th; and(4) Quarter 4 data, from October 1st to December 31st, shall be reported on or before March 1st of the following calendar year.N.H.
