Section He-C 6450.23 - Discipline(a) The experiential/wilderness facility's policies shall prohibit abusive, corporal, humiliating, or frightening punishment.(b) The following specific punishments shall be prohibited: (1) Denial of food including snacks;(2) Denial of sleep, or using rest as a punishment;(3) Denial of shelter, clothing, or bedding, solely as punishment;(4) Denial of access to bathrooms;(5) Denial of mail and visits with their families, solely as punishment;(6) Restrictions concerning home visits, solely as punishment;(7) Isolation or sensory deprivation;(8) Physical exercises when used solely as punishment;(9) Group punishment for misbehaviors of individuals except when documented as part of the experiential/wilderness facility's treatment plan; and(10) The use of mechanical restraints.(c) Discipline shall be directed at helping each child develop his or her own self-control and assume responsibility for his or her own acts.(d) Corporal punishment shall be prohibited.(e) Discipline on off-site trips shall be reviewed with the juveniles prior to departure.(f) Administration of discipline shall be a staff responsibility.N.H.
