Section Env-Ws 901.05 - Operators-in-Training
(a) There shall be an operator-in-training ("OIT") status for each grade of wastewater operator certification.
(b) Eligibility criteria for each OIT grade shall be identical to that for each full certification grade, except that applicants may take the written exam for a particular grade with less operating experience than required for that full grade.
(c) Operators holding an OIT certificate shall be allowed to be in responsible charge of a plant that is one grade classification below, or lower, than the grade OIT certificate held.
(d) An owner may request the committee to approve an individual holding an OIT certification to be placed in responsible charge of a plant of the same grade. Such request shall be in writing and shall explain the reasons why the committee should approve the request.
(e) Full certificate status shall be granted to an operator in training after the committee receives written verification from the OIT's supervisor of the fulfillment of the operating experience requirement.
