Section Env-Wr 502.08 - Downstream Dams(a) When there are dams downstream located within the study area as determined by Env-Wr 502.06(g), the owner shall evaluate the effect of the breach flow on these dams.(b) If a downstream dam would not be overtopped, no stability analysis of this structure shall be required.(c) If a downstream dam would be overtopped by failure of the subject dam, the owner shall: (1) Include the downstream dam's failure in the breach model; or(2) Submit to the department the results of a stability analysis for overturning and sliding or slope failure, as applicable, including factors of safety, on the downstream dam.(d) If the stability analysis performed pursuant to (c)(2), above, indicates that a downstream dam is unstable during overtopping, the owner shall include the failure of the downstream dam in the breach model.(e) If the stability analysis performed pursuant to (c)(2), above, indicates that a downstream dam is stable, its failure shall not be required to be modeled in the dam breach analysis.N.H.
