Section Env-Wq 2101.22 - Lawn Irrigation by ICI Water Users
(a) Subject to (c), below, any ICI water user that is using water to irrigate lawns shall:
(1) Equip all automatic lawn watering devices with technology that will prevent the devices from operating during rain events or otherwise when the lawn does not need to be watered; and
(2) Audit all automatic lawn watering systems not less frequently than once every 3 years to ensure the technology required by (1), above, is functioning properly.
(b) Subject to (c), below, any ICI water user that is installing a new lawn area shall require the lawn to be underlain by 6 inches of loam, which is a loose friable topsoil that combines relatively equal parts of sand, clay, and silt and that is generally free from stones, lumps, stumps, roots, weeds, or similar objects larger than 2 inches.
(c) The requirements of (a) and (b), above, shall not apply to lawns associated with golf courses.
