Section Agr 1405.12 - Minimum Test; ScalesWhen a new scale is installed, the scale shall be tested as follows:
(a) Scales shall be tested with certified test weights in accordance with the appropriate sections of the following documents:(1) NIST Handbook 44 "Specifications, Tolerances, and other Technical Requirements for Weighing and Measuring Devices"; and(2) NIST Handbook 112 "Examination Procedure Outlines for Commercial Weighing and Measuring Devices," 2002 edition as amended.(b) When conducting a substitution test on a weighing device, service technicians shall: (1) Apply known test weight(s) to the load-receiving element as outlined in NIST Handbook 44, NIST Handbook 112 or both;(2) Remove the known test weight(s) and apply to the load-receiving element an unknown weight or weights not exceeding the amount of known test weight(s) first applied to the load-receiving element of the scale; and(3) Repeat the process described in (2) above until the scale has been tested to its capacity.N.H.
