Section 490.115 - Duties of Department upon presentation of off-highway vehicle to obtain identification numberAt the time the owner of an off-highway vehicle presents his or her off-highway vehicle to obtain an identification number, the Department will:
1. Assign as the identification number for the off-highway vehicle:(a) The identification number placed on the frame of the off-highway vehicle by the manufacturer or previously by the Department, if the frame of the off-highway vehicle is not replaced;(b) The identification number for the off-highway vehicle if the off-highway vehicle has had its frame replaced with a frame that: (1) Is manufactured for or by the original manufacturer of that off-highway vehicle;(2) Is supplied by the manufacturer; and(3) Does not have an identification number placed on it by the manufacturer; or(c) A distinguishing number assigned by the Department pursuant to NRS NRS 490.0835.2. Record the identification number in the records of the Department in accordance with NAC 490.425.3. Permanently stamp or attach the identification number, or confirm that the identification number is permanently stamped or attached, to:(a) The frame of the off-highway vehicle in an area prescribed by the Department; or(b) If the off-highway vehicle is a motorcycle, the frame of the motorcycle, as near as possible to the right-side down tube.Nev.
