Section 449.349 - Emergency services1. A hospital shall meet the emergency needs of its patients in accordance with nationally recognized standards of practice.2. If a hospital does not have an emergency department on-site, the policies and procedures for meeting the emergency needs of patients must be under the direction of a qualified member of the medical staff.3. If a hospital provides emergency services through an emergency department: (a) The services must be organized under the direct supervision of a qualified member of the medical staff;(b) The services must be integrated with the other departments, units and services within the hospital; and(c) The policies and procedures governing the provision of medical care in the emergency department must be established by and are the continuing responsibility of the medical staff.4. A hospital shall have sufficient medical and nursing personnel who are qualified in emergency medical care to carry out the written emergency procedures of, and to meet the emergency needs anticipated by, the hospital.Nev.
