"Log" means the removal value measuring the ability of a treatment process to remove pathogenic microorganisms, which is determined by taking the logarithm of the ratio of pathogen concentration in the influent and effluent water of a treatment process. For example, 1 log is equal to a 90 percent reduction of pathogenic microorganisms; 2 log is equal to a 99 percent reduction of pathogenic microorganisms; 3 log is equal to a 99.9 percent reduction of pathogenic microorganisms.
