Section 445A.6712 - Distribution system: Dead ends1. A distribution system must be designed, to the extent possible, in such a manner as to eliminate dead ends and form a grid system or system of arterial loops. Except as otherwise justified by an engineer and approved by the Division or the appropriate district board of health, tree systems are prohibited.2. Where a dead end cannot be eliminated, it must:(a) If the flow and pressure is sufficient, terminate with:(1) A gate valve of the same size as the water main; and(b) Terminate with a flushing device approved by the Division or the appropriate district board of health. The flushing device must be of a sufficient size to provide a velocity of at least 2.5 feet per second in the water main being flushed. No flushing device may be connected directly to any sewer line.Nev. Admin. Code § 445A.6712
