Section 361.310 - "Historical cost" defined; synonymous with "original cost

"Historical cost" means the first cost of a property item of a public utility regardless of the present owner or interim sales transactions. It usually refers, in the accounting of public utilities, to the cost of a property item when first devoted to public service. For other than the accounting of public utilities, the term means the cost to the owner at the time of acquisition. The term is synonymous with the term "original cost" in public utility accounting.
