Section 180-7-058 - SAFETY INSTRUCTIONIn addition to the requirements of 180 NAC 10-003, the licensee must:
(A) Provide radiation safety instruction, initially and at least annually, to personnel caring for a patient or human research subjects that are undergoing implant therapy and cannot be released under 180 NAC 7-037. The instruction must be commensurate with the duties of the personnel and must include the following: (i) Size and appearance of the brachytherapy sources;(ii) Safe handling and shielding instructions;(iii) Patient or human research subject control; (iv) Visitor control, including both: (1) Routine visitation of hospitalized individual according to 180 NAC 4-013.01; and(2) Visitation authorized according to 180 NAC 4-013.01; and(v) Notification of the RSO or their designee, and authorized user if the patient or the human research subject dies or has a medical emergency. The licensee must also notify the Department according to 180 NAC 7-119 if it is possible that any individual could receive exposures in excess of 5 mSv (500 mrem) as a result of the deceased's body; and(B) Retain a record of individuals receiving instruction required by 180 NAC 7-101.180 Neb.
