Section 180-24-001 - SCOPE AND AUTHORITY

180 Nebraska Administrative Code (NAC) 24 has been established to provide the requirements for the physical protection program for any licensee that possesses an aggregated category 1 or category 2 quantity of radioactive material listed in Appendix 24-A of 180 NAC 24. These requirements provide reasonable assurance of the security of category 1 or category 2 quantities of radioactive material by protecting these materials from theft or diversion. Specific requirements for access to material, use of material, transfer of material, and transport of material are included. No provision of 180 NAC 24 authorizes possession of licensed material.

001.01APPLICABILITY. 180 NAC 24-004 through 24-019 apply to any person who, under 180 NAC 24, possesses or uses at any site, an aggregated category 1 or category 2 quantity of radioactive material.

001.02TRANSPORT. 180 NAC 24-020 through 24-025 applies to any person who:

(A) Transports or delivers to a carrier for transport in a single shipment, a category 1 or category 2 quantity of radioactive material; or

(B) Imports or exports a category 1 or category 2 quantity of radioactive material; the provisions only apply to the domestic portion of the transport.
