Rule 36.11.226 - PRECOMMERCIAL THINNING UNITS SMA(1) For this SMA: (a) Slash on the perimeter of, or adjacent to, a precommercial thinning unit must meet the general standard.(b) If the boundary of the unit coincides with a change in land ownership, it must have either: (i) a 12-foot fire break;(ii) a 33-foot fuel break; or(iii) the slash must be lopped to a height of 18 inches for 66 feet inside the unit boundary.(c) The department may approve other methods when such methods would maintain public and firefighter safety.Mont.
