Section 20 CSR 2200-8.080 - Clinical ExperiencesPURPOSE: This amendment defines the amount of clinical time allocated to clinical simulation.
(1) Clinical sites shall be selected which will provide direct care and observational learning experiences to meet the objectives of the course.(A) Select inter professional educational experiences may be utilized to provide learning experiences to meet course and program objectives and outcomes. Clinical personnel with professional licensure or certification in a health-related field may be utilized to augment student learning in their respective areas. Observational/interprofessional experiences may not exceed twenty percent (20%) of the total clinical program hours. Orientation to the facility does not contribute to the twenty percent (20%).(B) Clinical simulation and clinical skills lab time is at the discretion of the nursing program. Records of allocation of clinical hours to simulation shall be maintained.(C) Direct patient care experiences shall be sufficient to achieve identified competencies as well as course and program outcomes.(D) The ratio of faculty to students in the clinical area shall be designed to promote patient safety and to facilitate student learning with the proper supervision.(E) There shall be evidence of clinical orientation for each nursing course with a clinical component.(2) Each program shall have written evidence of an agreement with each clinical site which includes time frames for a notification of termination and periodic review.Adopted by Missouri Register September 1, 2017/Volume 42, Number 17, effective 10/31/2017Amended by Missouri Register July 2, 2018/Volume 43, Number 13, effective 8/31/2018Amended by Missouri Register July 15, 2022/Volume 47, Number 14, effective 8/31/2022
