Section 11 CSR 40-2.061 - New InstallationsPURPOSE: This rule addresses the safe design, construction, installation, inspection, operation, maintenance, and repair of new boilers, water heaters, and pressure vessels.
(1) As used in this rule, the term "these rules" is intended to mean 11 CSR 40-2.010 through 11 CSR 40-2.065.(2) Minimum construction standards for new boilers, water heaters, and pressure vessels contracted for after November 12, 1986.(A) All new boilers, water heaters, and pressure vessels shall be designed, constructed, inspected, stamped, and installed in accordance with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Code and these rules, unless exempted from such construction by the Act. Boilers, water heaters, and pressure vessels for which an ASME Manufacturers' Data Report is required shall be registered with the National Board. All pressure vessels in which steam is generated by the application of heat resulting from the combustion of fuel (solid, liquid, or gaseous) or electrical energy for use external to itself shall be classified as a fired steam boiler.(B) New boilers, water heaters, and pressure vessels may be manufactured to internationally recognized standards with acceptance of the board as outlined in 11 CSR 40-2.064.
