This section defines the roadway classification system for the Mississippi Department of Transportation. The roadway classification system is consistent with the definitions as contained in the Access Management Manual. Note that the minimum design standards for the number and locations of the connections, median type and openings, turn lane requirements, and traffic signal location and distance will all be affected by speed and existing land use development.
