If any of the Transportation Commissioners dies, resigns or is removed from office, the Governor will appoint a replacement for the unexpired term, as long as the unexpired term does not exceed twelve (12) months. If the unexpired term exceeds twelve (12) months, the Governor shall, within fifteen (15) days from the date of the vacancy, call an election in the Supreme Court district in which the vacancy exists and the election is to be held within sixty (60) days from the date of the issuance of the Governor's call for election. The election of the transportation commissioner will be for the remaining portion of the unexpired term.
