Rule 31-5-8.1 - Costs for Paper Copies1.Miss. Code Ann. § 25-61-7(1) reads as follows: "Except as provided in subsection (2) of this section, each public body may establish and collect fees reasonably calculated to reimburse it for, and in no case to exceed, the actual cost of searching, reviewing and/or duplicating and, if applicable, mailing copies of public records." A requestor may obtain standard black and white photocopies for $ 0.15 cents per page. There is a minimum charge of $5.00 per request. Examples of specific copy charges include, but are not limited to, the following:
a. Accident Reports - $15.00b. MBI Case Investigative Case Files - $5.00 per filec. Motor Vehicle Record - $11.00 (if requested by mail from Driver Services)d. Photos on CD - $29.95.2. Before requested copies are made, the requestor must pre-pay all reasonably estimated costs of copying all the records selected by the requestor. The Legal Division or Public Records Designee may also require the payment of the remainder of the copying costs before providing all the records in an installment before providing that installment. The Mississippi Department of Public Safety will not charge sales tax when it makes copies of public records.3. Invoice for payment of copies must be returned with payment for copies. Miss.
