Rule 23-202-5.2 - Chelation TherapyA. The Division of Medicaid covers only Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved chelation in an inpatient or outpatient hospital setting in accordance with current standards of medical practice.B. Conditions which may be treated with chelation include: 3. Metallic mercury poisoning,9. Severe, active rheumatoid arthritis that has failed to respond to an adequate trial of conventional therapy.C. Documentation in the medical records of symptoms and/or laboratory tests must support one (1) of the listed diagnoses.
