HIPAA makes important exceptions concerning the disclosure of protected health information (PHI) for workers' compensation purposes. The United States Department of Health and Human Services, through its Office for Civil Rights, enforces the HIPAA Law and maintains an informative website with information on HIPAA and its application to workers' compensation claims.
