The Mississippi Soil and Water Conservation Commission has developed standards and specifications for a Livestock Pond Renovation best management practice (BMP). Funds are allocated to the Soil and Water Conservation Districts (SWCDs) each year based upon the number of livestock reported through the National Agricultural Statistics Service. Eligible landowners apply for cost sharing assistance through the SWCDs under this program for the renovation of livestock watering ponds that have become silted in. The cost share rate is 75% not to exceed maximums set by the MSWCC. The specifications for this program are located in section 506.02.
