The following list illustrates some examples of recommended education and outreach projects. Some of these examples incorporate recent advances in technology. The MSSHPO requires that it be consulted during development of scopes of work for Phase II and III education and outreach programs. The MSSHPO can provide guidance and information on a variety of topics, for example, on available exhibit designers and video and digital production firms, interesting web sites that may provide useful ideas, and samples of excellent non-technical publications from Mississippi and other states.
1. Develop and maintain archaeological information on a web site 2. Exhibits (temporary/traveling/or permanent) & Interpretive Signage 4. Non-technical books or brochures 5. Various Mississippi magazine articles or news bulletins, which can also include articles in other popular local, reginal or national magazines 8. Community archaeology projects using adult and youth volunteers or students (examples: field schools, summer camps) 10. TV and radio programs 11. Presentation (PowerPoint) - can later be put on web site 13. Virtual archaeology (interactive exhibits, educational games, tours, other programs and site interpretation) on the web or CD Rom 14.
