Tertiary pediatric trauma centers shall work in collaboration with the referral facilities in the system and develop inter-facility transfer guidelines. These guidelines must address criteria to identify high-risk pediatric trauma patients that could benefit from a higher level of trauma care. All designated facilities will agree to provide services to the pediatric trauma patient regardless of his/her ability to pay.
